Leviton Z-Wave Controls

March 9, 2017

Leviton announces the release of five new Z-Wave Plus certified lighting control devices including 600W and 1000W in-wall dimmers, 15 Amp switches, as well as plug-in outlets and plug-in dimmers. The Decora Smart@trade; with Z-Wave Technology devices universally support LED, CFL and incandescent bulbs, are certified to work with both Samsung SmartThings and Wink hubs, and are backwards compatible to Leviton Vizia RF + systems. All Decora Smart with Z-Wave Technology devices are supported by an industry-leading five year limited warranty.

These new Decora Smart with Z-Wave Technology devices feature state-of-the-art Z-Wave Plus commands such as network wide inclusion and beaming, faster installation, and stronger communication, all while using less energy. The devices have also been engineered for compatibility with extremely sensitive low-wattage LED bulbs. With standard dimmers, these types of bulbs can glow even after lights are turned off, but the new compatibility feature will eliminate this, so off really means off. Additionally, the plug-in modules feature a new, local on/off push button that offers real-time communication to hubs.

In addition to new functionality and compatibility features, a new, enhanced in-wall Decora Smart aesthetic has been created. The new 600W and 1000W dimmer hardware features an all-new dim/bright bar placed vertically alongside the on/off rocker paddle for ease of use. The vanishing LEDs on the left side of the paddle show current and target light levels with real-time feedback. Both white and light almond faceplates are included with the in-wall devices, and a variety of color change kits are also available. Optional screwless Decora wallplates ensure a sleek, matching appearance with an end-user’s other Decora dimmers and switches.

“Leviton has been a pioneer and believer in Z-Wave technology for well over a decade, beginning with the existing Vizia RF + product family,” said Tom Morgan, Director of Product Management for Leviton Energy Management, Controls, & Automation. “Therefore, it’s only natural to bring our wide-ranging product line into the future with a new look and enhanced Z-Wave Plus technology.”

Multi-location (3-way) dimming is achieved using up to four remote units referred to as DD00R-DLZ. Multi-location (3-way) switching is achieved using a DD0SR-1Z coordinating remote (no LED indicator) or a DD0SR-DLZ matching remote (with LED indicator).
